We may be just into spring, but warmer weather will be here before you know it. When that happens, will your car be ready? A broken A/C causes a lot of discomfort for those in the vehicle, and in some cases, could be a sign of a bigger issue. Most of the time, however, it’s beneficial for your health to make sure you have a working A/C on those scorching days where car cabins become suffocating.

To help your mechanic get you back on the road with a working A/C, here’s some questions to consider before the appointment:

  • Did the air conditioning die slowly or suddenly?
  • Does it make strange noises?
  • Does it have an odor?
  • Did the air flow get weaker?
  • Does hot air blow out?
  • Does the engine run hot at the same time the A/C blows out hot air?

In some cases, the fix could be a straightforward liquid or filter replacement. Other times, it could be a sign of a bad radiator cooling fan. For example, if your engine is running too hot, then the fan and radiator may be lacking air flow, which causes both your A/C and engine to run hot. If it’s not fixed, your engine could easily overheat in the summer.

Either way, if you’re not getting the best results from your A/C, bring it in to Superior Service for an appointment. Our preventative maintenance services are a great way to check if parts like your engine air filter might need replacing to ensure you always have a cool ride even on those hot summer days.
